Engineered for Evaluation. Designed for Defence.

ICARUS builds drone platforms specifically for the demands of UK defence testing and novel experimentation. From modular flight control systems to secure onboard telemetry, our UAS solutions are optimised for use in sensitive, high-integrity environments.

We design with one mission in mind: to give UK defence full control over the airspace, the code, and the hardware.

Purpose-Built Drone Systems

Our drones aren’t modified consumer products — they’re designed from the ground up for use in testing and training missions. Each platform is tailored for stability, repeatability, and secure operation in controlled environments.

Capabilities include

  • Multi-rotor airframes, 7” to 10” class, compact and test-range friendly

  • Predictable flight behaviour for repeatable evaluation cycles

  • Rapid deployment and field-maintainable architecture

Precision Autonomous Capability

Our platforms integrate with ArduPilot to enable loitering, GPS waypoint missions, and return-to-home operations. Navigation precision depends on the selected GNSS module and ground control station, allowing clients to scale cost and performance to mission needs.

Autonomous waypoint navigation

Loitering, hold, RTL, and mission scripting

GNSS-based flight (GPS + Galileo)

Configurable for GPS denial test scenarios

Max velocity: 40 m/s

Autonomous failsafe modes for link loss or signal degradation

Secure Links
Real-Time Awareness

ICARUS platforms are equipped with bi-directional telemetry and configurable RF communications. With optimal line-of-sight and a high-performance transmitter, ranges of up to 20 km are achievable.

Comms Capabilities:

  • Bi-directional MAVLink telemetry with live position updates

  • Range: up to 20 km (line-of-sight, RF-dependent)

  • Secure command link with configurable failsafe actions

  • Ground station integration with QGroundControl, Mission Planner, etc.

Built to Simulate, Carry, and Deploy

ICARUS drones are equipped for live payload integration and mission simulation. Whether for electronic warfare evaluation or munitions drop testing, our platforms offer flexible mounting and release capabilities.

Payload Support:

  • Drop-release mechanisms (servo-actuated)

  • Payload mounting points (sensor or physical)

  • Radar/EW simulation payload compatibility

  • Modular frame options for custom integration

No ITAR. No EAR.
Full UK Control.

All core electronics — including our flight controller are designed in-house and manufactured within the UK. We explicitly avoid components restricted by ITAR or EAR, ensuring compliance, continuity, and long-term sustainability.
